Built on Experience, Family, and Community

Rooted in Amarillo, Committed to our neighbors

Goodnight Gutters is more than just a gutter company — it’s the continuation of a family tradition of hard work, entrepreneurship, and service to the communities of West Texas.

Our story begins with Scott Goodnight, a lifelong Amarillo resident whose roots in construction go back to his high school days. After earning a degree in kinesiology and spending several years teaching, Scott returned to what he always loved — building and fixing things. He ran his own remodeling company before purchasing his first roll-forming gutter machine in 2005. From there, Goodnight Gutters was born. What started with 5-inch gutters grew into a full-service operation specializing in 5- and 6-inch seamless K-style gutters and premium leaf protection systems. For nearly two decades, Scott built his reputation on honesty, craftsmanship, and a simple promise: customers don’t pay until they’re satisfied.

Scott also worked for many years alongside his father, J.T. Goodnight, in the family’s trucking business, Y&J Transfer. That experience not only gave him a firsthand look at what it takes to run a small business, but also instilled in him the work ethic and determination that would carry over into Goodnight Gutters.

In 2024, Scott’s son, Jake, officially joined the business, marking the next chapter of the Goodnight family’s entrepreneurial story. Jake brought with him years of experience in the oil field, problem-solving skills honed in high-pressure environments, and a passion for building something lasting for his family and community. Together, father and son are combining Scott’s decades of hands-on experience with Jake’s systems-focused approach to scale the business for the future.

Entrepreneurship runs deep in the Goodnight family. In addition to J.T.’s trucking company, Scott’s grandfather, Frank Painter, was a business owner and community leader in Sunray, Texas — a man so dedicated to his town that a city park still carries his name today. That spirit of hard work, community pride, and building something that lasts has been passed down through generations.

Today, Goodnight Gutters is proud to be the longest-operating seamless gutter business in Amarillo. We’ve installed thousands of feet of gutter across the Panhandle, helping homeowners protect their biggest investment while improving curb appeal. But at the heart of it all, we’re still a family-owned and operated business — carrying forward a legacy of trust, craftsmanship, and community that has defined our family for four generations.

For us, it’s never just about gutters. It’s about people — our neighbors, our community, and the families who trust us with their homes. We believe in treating every customer the way we’d want to be treated: with honesty, respect, and care. Our faith, our family, and our roots in West Texas shape the way we do business, and we’re committed to serving Amarillo with the same values that have guided our family for generations.
